SAIF is Oregon's not-for-profit workers' compensation provider.
Workers’ compensation insurance (often called “workers’ comp”) provides benefits for workers who are injured as a result of their work. By law, Oregon employers must carry workers' compensation insurance or be self-insured. Workers’ compensation insurance protects workers by paying for medical treatment and lost wages, and it protects employers by shielding them from liability lawsuits that might result from work-related injuries or illnesses.

Laurie Phelps, Regional Operations Director
She started at SAIF in 1992 in the claims division. In 2001, she moved into policyholder services where her roles included senior account representative, marketing trainer, and marketing advisor. Her focus is on policyholders and delivering an exceptional customer experience to all SAIF customers.
Phelps graduated from Oregon State University with a B.S. degree in business. She holds an Oregon insurance producer’s license and maintains her certification as an Oregon claims examiner.
